What is Like Day Last Year or Like Days Last Year?

Like Day Last Year is one of the options provided under Comparison Period if you select Daily as the Period on a report that has comparison periods, whereas Like Days Last Year (Days: plural) is one of the options provided under Comparison Period if you select Weekly as the Period.

Like Day Last Year

Like Day Last Year is a comparison period option if the report Period is set to Daily.

The comparison day under this option is the same day of the week nearest to the Date selected, in the previous year.

EXAMPLE

If you select Daily as the Period, August 30, 2021 as the Date and Like Day Last Year as the Comparison Period (see image below):

Since the Date selected is a Monday, the closest Monday to August 30, 2020 will be used as the comparison period.

If you were to look at the calendar for 2020, the nearest Monday to the Date selected is August 31, 2020.

Hence the Like Day Last Year for August 30, 2021 is August 31, 2020.

Like Days Last Year

Like Days Last Year is a comparison period option if the report Period is set to Weekly.

The comparison week under this option is the week ending date with the same day of the week nearest to date selected as the Week Ending, in the previous year.

EXAMPLE

If you select Weekly as the Period, August 15, 2021 as the Week Ending and Like Days Last Year as the Comparison Period (see image below).

Since the Week Ending date selected is a Sunday, the closest Sunday to August 15, 2020 will be used as the reference point.

If you were look at the calendar for 2020, the nearest Sunday to the date selected as the Week Ending is August 16, 2020.

Hence the week that will be used as the comparison week if you were to select Like Days Last Year as the Comparison Period for the week ending August 15, 2021, is the week ending August 16, 2020.
