The Forecasting page is where you can generate and view your financial and product mix forecasts, and view the predicted transaction count and sales amounts displayed in Schedule - New.
The Forecasting page may be reached through:

Forecasts generated take into consideration historical sales and product mix data, weather, events, promotions, and holidays and closures. Promotions that correspond with the forecast week can impact the forecast based on the controls selected. Additionally, the user can make adjustments to the forecast as per their discretion.
The historical data used to generate a forecast is taken from certain weeks called trend weeks Past weeks that can be considered the trend for the week being forecasted. The data of trend weeks is used in the calculation of forecasts.. Trend weeks are selected by your organization and/or the user that generated the forecast, and are meant to be previous weeks that represent the week being forecast.
Trend weeks Past weeks that can be considered the trend for the week being forecasted. The data of trend weeks is used in the calculation of forecasts. for the financial forecast and the product mix forecast are in two separate tabs and you can select different trend weeks Past weeks that can be considered the trend for the week being forecasted. The data of trend weeks is used in the calculation of forecasts. for each of them to account for different trends in expected transaction count and menu item sales.
EXAMPLE
While your financial forecast might do well with using the last four weeks as trend weeks Past weeks that can be considered the trend for the week being forecasted. The data of trend weeks is used in the calculation of forecasts., you could be switching to a seasonal menu, which would require the data of last year for the product mix forecast.

The forecast for a week is made up of two parts:

Financial: Predicts the sales expected for the week, each day of the week, each part of the day and each time period.

Product Mix: Predicts the number of menu items (grouped by Product Group, Product Mix or individually as Menu Item) expected to be sold for the week and each day of the week.
Additionally, the schedule forecast - a by-product of the financial forecast, provides you with the financial figures used in Schedule - New.
Financial and Product Mix
Select Financial from the View drop-down list using the filters Drop-down boxes that let you select from the options available. at the top of the page to view a list of all the financial and product mix forecasts.
The following information is displayed on the page:

Financial Week Period: The start and end day of the week and time for which each forecast was generated.

Count: The number of transactions expected for each day and the total for the week.

Sales: The total value of sales expected for each day and for the week.

Status: Indicates whether the forecasted week is in the past or not.

TO VIEW A FINANCIAL FORECAST:

Open the Forecasting page.

Select the Area* and Store for which you want to view the forecast from the drop-down list(s).

Click on the Week Ending of the forecast you want to view.
The following information is displayed on the Update Forecast page:

Forecast Period: The day, day part or time period of the forecast data.

Original:

Count: The number of transactions expected during the forecast period, before manual adjustments were made by users in your organization.

Sales: The total value of sales expected during the forecast period, before manual adjustments were made by users in your organization.

Avg. Check: The average value of each transaction for the period, before manual adjustments were made by users in your organization.
Avg. Check = Sales / Count

Forecast Adjustment: The percentage by which the forecast was manually adjusted by the user that generated the forecast.
A value in brackets indicates that the forecast was reduced by that percentage.

Update Count & Sales*: The percentage by which the count and sales were adjusted. A single figure indicates that both the count and sales were adjusted by the same percentage.

Update Count Only*: The percentage by which the count was adjusted.

Update Sales Only*: The percentage by which the sales was adjusted.

Forecast Results:

Count: The number of transactions expected during the forecast period after manual adjustments made by the user that generated the forecast.

TO VIEW A PRODUCT MIX FORECAST:

Click on the Week Ending of the forecast you want to view.

In the Update Forecast window:

Click on the Product Mix tab.

Select a day from the Display Product Mix for drop-down list to view the forecast for the day.

The following information is displayed on the Update Forecast page in the Promotion Participation section:

Name: The name of the promotion.
-
Start Date: The date on which the promotion is expected to start affecting sales.

End Date: The last date on which the promotion is expected to affect sales.

Scope:

Local: indicates the promotion was created by a CLEARVIEW user in your organization.

National: indicates the promotion was created by your support team and released to all stores in your organization type The brand under which your organization functions. across the country.

Regional: indicates the promotion was created by your support team and released to all the stores in your organization type The brand under which your organization functions. that are in a certain region.

Yes indicates that the store will be impacted by the promotion.

Default indicates that the promotion was created by your support team, pushed to all stores and has not been overridden.

Custom indicates that the promotion was either created your support team, pushed to all stores and has been overridden, or was created ) OR was created by a CLEARVIEW user in your organization.

The following information is displayed on the Update Forecast page in the Forecasted Product Mix section:

Display Product Mix for: The period for which the information in the table is displayed.

Product Mix: The name of the product group, product mix or menu item.

Manual Adjustments: The adjustments made by the user that generated the forecast.

Schedule
The schedule forecast provides insights to the data used for the Stats in Schedule - New.
While the financial data used for the Stats in Schedule - New is obtained from the financial forecast, if your scheduling week differs from your financial week (they start on different days of the week and/or time), looking at the financial forecast might not give you an accurate picture of the data used. The schedule forecast hence breaks the financial forecast down to the scheduling period so that you can see exactly what data was used for the Stats.

Click on the Week Ending of the forecast you want to view.
The following information is displayed on the Forecast - Schedule Week View page:

Schedule Period: The period of the schedule forecast.
-
Forecast Week: The financial week ending for which the forecast was generated.
-
Count: The number of transactions predicted for the period.
-
Amount: The amount of sales expected for the period.
The schedule forecast is only available for the days for which a financial forecast has been generated. Hence, if your scheduling week differs from your financial week, the schedule forecast will not be available for the days not covered in the last financial forecast.

In the Promotional Lifts tab:

Click on the Click here to Choose link to opt in or out of any promotions created by your support team (if any).

Select Yes or No from the Participating? drop-down list to opt in or out of each of the promotions.
Opting out of a promotion will disregard all lifts that are included in the promotion when creating the forecast. However, your store could still offer the promotion to your customers.

Click on the Finish (Save) button once done.

Once generated, a forecast is static and will not change based on new sales and general information logged into CLEARVIEW.
If you generate forecasts for more than one week into the future, it's best to check the forecasts at the end of each week to ensure its credibility, and edit or regenerate it (only trend weeks Past weeks that can be considered the trend for the week being forecasted. The data of trend weeks is used in the calculation of forecasts. selected for the financial forecast cannot be changed through the edit process), if necessary. To regenerate a forecast, you will have to delete the forecast and then generate it once again.
